Competitions
"What is it that makes a great comic strip? Is it the wit,
the pathos, the stupidity, the name of the character, the way
the squiggly lines are drawn, or is it just something else?
Today the Sydney Morning Herald launches a competition to discover
the new great Australian comic strip.
The winning entry will encapsulate something quintessential about
Australian life, have a sensibility that instantly strikes a chord
among readers, and, most important, brings a smile to
the face of the person reading it.
Send in a selection of ten black-and-white panels to Comic Contest,
The Sydney Morning Herald, GPO Box 506, Sydney 2001. The
winner will be announced in the Herald of
Saturday, July 9. The winning cartoonist's work will appear regularly
in the Herald.
The Herald is unable to return original artwork. The editor's
decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into."
